On September 29, 2022, the international conference inaugurating the implementation of the “Our Leova” project was held in Chisinau. Implementation of the model of participatory management of the revitalization of the city of Leova in Moldova “, financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland as part of “Development Aid 2022”, which will last until December 2022. This task was entrusted to the Foundation Center for Local Development in cooperation with the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University as the main the contractor of the project and the partner organization on the Moldavian side – the local government of the city of Leova.
The conference was attended by: representatives of the contractor – Foundation Center for Local Development from Lublin – dr hab. prof. UMCS Mariusz Sienkiewicz and Dr. Marta Drabczuk, a representative of the Institute of Political Sciences and Administration of UMCS – Dr. Nadia Gergało-Dąbek and the Mayor of the City of Łęczna – Leszek Włodarski. The participants of the conference on the Moldavian side were: Mayor of the City of Leova – Alexandru Burojean, representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, representatives of the Solidarity Fund Poland and the Regional Development Agency from Chisinau. The key group at the conference were the representatives of the local community of the local government of Leova and the media.
What was the conference about?
During the conference, the assumptions and the planned goals of the implemented partnership project were presented, the main effect of which will be the development of the Leova City Revitalization Program. An important voice in the conference was taken by Leszek Włodarski – the Mayor of the City of Łęczna, who presented the effects of revitalization process in the Łęczna community, which was met with the great interest of the participants of the event. The mayor of the city of Leova – Aleksandru Bujorean presented the main characteristics of the city of Leova as well as the potential and prospects for the city’s development in the context of revitalization activities for the coming years.
The conference ended with the signing of a Partnership Agreement between the Foundation Center for Local Development and the local government of the City of Leova.
